BABYSTEPS-SEAHORSE LEVEL (Submersions)

SEAHORSE LEVEL WEEK 1-4 (6mths old)

The focus is Submersions in a side swim position to parent with the start of letting go of babies for 1 second before they are assisted by parent at wrist to recover to parents shirt.

This encourages and gentle slow natural swim pace for baby to be prepared to submerse.
Letting baby go for a short amount of time promotes the feeling of buoyancy which leads to independent swimming when they get older.

At this age we start with an assisted grip which then leads to baby being able to reach and grip with more hand eye coordination which is why we request all parents to wear a shirt or rashie in the water.
