WE’VE BEEN LEARNING TO SWIM FOR YEARS!
FACT: If attending just one lesson per week, year round the average child accumulates 20 hours of tuition per year – That’s less than one day! If parents choose for their kids to attend one lesson per week during summer only, accumulated learning hours can be as little as just 10 hours per year, less than half a day annually.

WEEK 9 IS ASSESSMENT WEEK
All Learn-To-Swim students will be assessed during week 9 to ensure that they are placed in appropriate levels for Term 3.  If parents have any questions with regard to your child’s level, please don’t hesitate to approach the Assessor or send us an email and we will seek you out at the pool.  All Babies and Squad swimmers will receive an Assessment Report during Week 9 also.

TERM 3 AND 4 ENROLMENTS – YES, WE ARE PLANNING ALREADY!
The end of Term 2 is only 3 or 4 weeks away, so if you know that you need to change days or times please notify the office. Term 3 commences Monday 12th July (even though this is a pupil-free day, swim school is open as usual) and runs for 10 weeks until Saturday 18th September. HSS will be implementing a new enrolment process in the lead up to Term 4.

This is to streamline the enrolment procedures from term to term; and to ensure those parents who swim year round are rewarded with priority placement in classes.  Watch this space – more details to follow!

CHECK WITH YOUR HEALTH FUND TO CLAIM SWIM LESSONS!
Did you know that some health funds are covering swim lessons?  Some switched-on parents have recently requested letters to support claims from their health funds and have claimed a big portion of their swim school fees back.

So it is worthwhile checking with your health fund and finding out whether they provide refunds, and if they don’t suggesting that the might!

FREE BABIES & CHILDREN’S EXPO TICKETS!!
If you haven’t already claimed a free ticket to the Pregnancy, Babies & Children’s Expo at the Convention Centre 18-20th June, see the attachment and print one out for yourself.  We’ll see you at the Swim Australia stand!

STAFF PROFILE: DANIEL POWELL – LEARN TO SWIM INSTRUCTOR
Dan P has been a learn-to-swim instructor with HSS since the beginning of this year.  He is currently at UQ studying Information Technology with a duel degree in Business Management and after university he would like to become an air traffic controller. As a senior student swimming was his main sport, he was swimming captain at Churchie and QLD State Champion for butterfly. Dan’s message for HSS swimmers: “swimming is a great sport!  It keeps you fit, healthy, and is great for anyone suffering from asthma as I did as a kid.” Outside of work and study he enjoys playing touch football, water polo and keeping fit at the gym.

Thank you and keep enjoying swimming!
