TA Focus for the month

The following weeks we will be moving onto the next block of skills. We are still focusing on attaining and maintaining our core body structure and position, and we are scaffolding our arms into our strokes whilst maintaining a good core body position.

White Squad

Freestyle: This block we are applying our core and focusing our bent arm recover for a more efficient swim.

Backstroke: We are incorporating longitudinal body rotation whilst applying our core for a straighter swim.

Breaststroke: We are developing and extending our streamlined kicking position for a more efficient glide in our swim.

Butterfly: We are developing a better dolphin kick with our dolphin dive drill, for a stronger stroke.

Other: We are focusing on improving our flip turn using the pool noodle, getting into our streamline position at the end of the flip.

Silver Squad

Freestyle: We are further developing and incorporating strength into our freestyle stroke, feeling the acceleration of our pull, using our arms only.

Backstroke: Further to strengthening our stroke we are incorporating strength and body rotation into our High Velocity Overload for pacing and conditioning.

Breaststroke: We are strengthening our kicks, arms, and core with our drills in breaststroke in developing a holistic swim technique.

Butterfly: Using, developing, and feeling our dolphin kicks with exaggerated hip movement and putting it into our Butterfly swim.

Other: We are practicing the various methods for turns one could use when we swim our Individual Medley.

Black Squad

Freestyle: The Uncoordinated Freestyle drill gets you to think about the timing of your stroke and breathing to achieve a better feel and better rhythm for your swim.

Backstroke: The focus here is to achieve a better and more controlled backstroke underwater start for a more efficient swim.

Breaststroke: The 3,2,1 drill helps to develop your body position in the most propulsive phase of the stroke.

Butterfly: Now that we have almost mastered the kicking part of the stroke, we move on to incorporating that kick into the proper timing along with the arms and breathing.

Other: We further focus and develop the third Back to Breast turn: the Crossover turn.
