Do you close for weather?
Hampton Swim School acknowledges that water and electricity do not mix! With this in mind, the only thing that stops Hampton Swim School from running classes is an electrical storm/lightning. Our Team are informed on the logistics and proceedings of when an electrical storm is approaching, and will take steps to ensure the safety of classes. Please do not assume that because it’s raining that your class is cancelled – don’t hesitate to contact the customer service team on 3399 2004 or info@hamptonswimschool.com.au to confirm lesson operation.

Do you offer make up lessons?
Absolutely! Hampton Swim School understands that families get sick, go on holidays and have social events to attend. That is why we offer a courtesy make up lesson per child per term for whatever reason. To qualify for your courtesy make up lesson, you shall need to phone 3399 2004 or email info@hamptonswimschool.com.au prior to missing your scheduled lesson, and we shall arrange your courtesy make up lesson. If we do not have a cancellation notice in our system, we cannot honour your make up lesson. Make up lessons can be booked one (1) week in advance, and can be used within the term you missed your scheduled lesson. Make up lessons can not be rescheduled if missed, nor can not be rolled over or used for credit in future terms. For those swimmers that may miss a number of lessons due to recurring illness, broken bones or are away from an extended holiday, we offer alternative solutions too – just speak to our friendly customer service team for options.

What do I need to bring to swimming lessons?
All your class equipment is supplied by Hampton Swim School. For personal use, you will need your swimmers, towel, goggles, swim cap, change of clothes, snack/drink for after the lesson (it’s tiresome work!) and for or participants in our Baby Steps program, a swim nappy is compulsory for all levels, even those who are toilet trained. These are available to purchase at all of our locations. It is also recommended that Baby Steps swimmers also wear another layer over their nappy (i.e. swimmers, swim shirt or Baby Warma).
Remember to arrive with plenty of time to settle in prior to your lessons, so you and your child are prepared at a relaxed pace for lessons.

Why are parents encouraged to watch poolside? Can’t I drop my child off and return after their class has finished?
Many children participate in lessons without their parents accompanying them in the water. During class, parents of swimmers must remain within sight of their child (but from the appropriate viewing area) as a safety precaution.
Parents are solely responsible for any accompanying siblings or youngsters that are not in the pool. In situations where you are in the pool with a child, and you have another child on deck requiring supervision, consider asking another parent to watch your child, leave your child with a relative or friend (at their premises or along to ours), or consider an alternate day/time where you are free to attend lessons without the accompanying child.
Supervision in and around any body of water is vital to your child’s safety. Please note, there is no Lifeguard on duty, and our Hampton Swim School team are super busy attended to our little and big customers, so cannot provide adequate supervision to all children in and around the pool.

What can I do to assist my child’s swimming progress?
Whilst in Hampton Swim School classes, parents are encouraged to praise specific efforts that your child has made (from the viewing area), in order to assist their confidence. After class, be prepared with their towel and lots of smiles for a great swimming effort!
If you are encouraging your child to practise at home or whilst in the bath, reinforce skills learnt within the existing lessons you are attending. Simple tasks such as making bath time fun or letting your independent swimmer explore the water are great activities to assist their aquatic development. Please don’t hesitate to ask our Learning & Development Manager, Jenni, for take home tips that may assist your child’s swimming progress. Remember to always supervise and be within arms’ reach for assistance.

Can my child have the same instructor next time?
At Hampton Swim School, we believe consistency plays a vital part in your child’s swimming progress. For this reason, we ask our team of instructors for ongoing commitment to the same day/times from term to term. Of course we also acknowledge that their circumstances change; that is why all of our instructors and coaches are fully qualified Swim Australia or Austswim accredited, as well as being provided with ongoing in-house and industry training to ensure quality and consistency is maintained throughout our lessons. It means that no matter who your teacher is, you are provided with a top notch service and expertise. If you or your child have developed a bond with your current instructor, please place your request to continue with that instructor to our customer service team, and we will endeavour to accommodate you.

How do I know my child is a "strong swimmer"?
Becoming a capable swimmer does not happen overnight – swimming is a long term process that develops with regular, consistent attendance in a year round environment. Children progress at their own pace. A realistic goal for your child is to be able to swim at least 400m continuously, with solid technique. This milestone would indicate that your child would be well prepared for the aquatic environment. For more information on why this process is important, click here.
